Let's cut to the chase and adopt it!

Obviously I have had a number of discussions with Ben about this redesign. The current design of the SAPAC version MUST CHANGE - to leave it effectively the same as the original version would send absolutely the wrong message (!!!) about the effort we've all put in to redesign it.

Apart from that (subliminal) message, the redesign is important as it corrects most of the inadequacies of the original, and it looks like 'the real deal'. Quibbling about colour (which is a minor one-line fix in the CSS file is not a review of the proposed changes).

IMHO, what we really need to hear is from our SAPAC colleagues on how it can be most expediently implemented.

Agree with Alex that we have to change from AVH1 to AVH2.

I wonder if we might consider using some of the available javascript libraries (e.g. scriptaculous, jquery or mootools) to help reduce clutter on the page. For example, we could have just one set of query fields displayed, but have a 'more' button or link to expose the additional query fields. Its probably unnecessary, but it sends the messages that the new interface is a bit different and it can be done in an accessible way. Just a thought. --Peter 23:08, 25 July 2007 (EST)

Peter, I agree. I have deliberately generalised the document so that it doesn't exclude tools such as these, so long as the result works in the target set of browsers. Benr 19:13, 26 July 2007 (EST)
