A HISCOM/CHAH Workshop Towards a common approach to Australasian Electronic Floras was held at the Botanic Gardens of Adelaide on the 3 and 4 December 2007.  It was well-attended with well over 20 participants representing ABRS, all the Australian State herbaria,  Christchurch (NZ), and some of the major University herbaria.  With many e-flora projects in place or on the drawing board it was an ideal opportunity to look at the issues of coordination and integration. And with the Atlas of Living Australia gearing up, with the newly-appointed director in the driving seat for 2008, this meeting has positioned the botanical community to address ALA expectations also.  For further details - the meeting was minuted on the HISCOM wiki.

The Perth bid to host TDWG 2008 has been accepted by the TDWG Executive at their meeting prior to the Annual Conference, on proviso that a satisfactory budget can be locked in by the end of the calendar year.

HISCOM was well-represented at this years Taxonomic Databases Working Group meeting in Bratislava, Slovakia, held between the 16-22 September 2007.  Papers were presented or co-authored by Alex Chapman, Peter Neish, Ben Richardson, Kevin Richards and Greg Whitbread and honorary HISCOMite Lee Belbin.
