AVH and EWS Interface Design Subcommittee
Written by Ben Richardson
Friday, 27 July 2007

A subcommittee has been formed to look at the current AVH and EWS web interface and recommend how the interface should be changed for the launch. The subcommittee, comprising Ben Richardson, Kevin Thiele, Peter Neish, and Bill Barker, is now accepting comments.

The proposed design presented by Ben Richardson at last year's AGM was intended:

  • To provoke comment
  • To illustrate the use of modern HTML and CSS design
  • To fix many of the inadequacies in the current AVH page layout
The proposed design was never intended to be a completed design, especially in terms of colour and the more minor considerations in a design such as spacing. The focus of the discussion document is the current AVH design, particularly the Simple Query and AVH Map Display pages. It is hoped that the general ideas presented might inform a redesign of the current EWS.

Please read the subcommittee's AVH and EWS Interface Design discussion paper and make comment using the associated talk page.

HISPID mapping to ABCD
Written by Peter Neish
Thursday, 02 August 2007
A workshop took place at the State Herbarium of South Australia in Adelaide, 6–8 June 2007 to develop a mapping between ABCD and HISPID. The output of this work will be an xml schema that both extends and restricts ABCD using the extension mechanism of ABCD. This is a work in progress and members are invited to have a look at the notes on the mappings and make any suggestions.
